Refined Tars

Refined tars are produced through the low temperature distillation of coal tar and petroleum feedstocks. In its most common application, Lone Star refined tar, which is commonly called RT-12, is blended with clay, emulsifiers and water to create a finished product roadway sealer. Lone Star’s distillation technology allows us to offer refined tars that meet the specifications of both the roadway sealer market and for specialty applications. Our extensive equipment capabilities allow us to ship refined tars via railcar, tank truck, and specialty packaging.

Lone Star refined tars improve the appearance of existing paved asphalt surfaces, aids in protecting them from weather elements, and extends their service life. Specialty refined tars also serve as vital ingredients in the production of high-performance advanced materials.
